I installed mplayer on a computer with a ASUS A7V133-VM motherboard, which has onboard everything. I am having trouble playing DVDs and video files. I have looked at the documentation and the only thing I don't seem to have is when I type xvinfo it says something like "no adaptors present" instead of the long list of stuff it's supposed to give. Unfortunately, the documentation doesn't seem to say much about what to do if this message appears, and I'm a bit lost. Is there some software I can install to make this work, or do I have to get a whole other video card? I think what I need is hardware acceleration. I read also about DGA in the documentation, but I don't know if it will work. Do I need a whole lot of video memory to make it work? Thanks.

The onboard video is supposed to be a Vesa card, if that helps, and it was autodetected to have 16MB of memory.

Well DGA doesn't seem to work either. I can figure out what the errors mean. it seems that I have DGA installed into it but it can't use it, or something like that.

Doesn't anyone run mplayer with onboard video?
