Got me a old laptop for nothing but it also has no cdrom. Currently has 95 on it and boy does that have to go. Don't know all the specs, 500 meg HD though. What distro will work? I know it is going to be console only. It has one of mice you have to connect on the side, I never saw that before but you can't beat free.

There are other distros that I'm sure others will mention as well, but what I did with my 486/25 100mbHD was downloaded a floppy image of Debian and installed it (about 10-11 floppies), which gives you a base image and then you can either use dselect to get other packages you want over the modem or network, or just do like I did and go out and get the .deb's for the few specific programs I wanted and install them manually.
