I followed the directions according to a website where you boot into linux, issue the "dd if=/mdb1 of=/... bs=512 count=1" or something command, copy to disk, edit boot.ini routine

The bootloader now comes up fine and let's me choose between Windows 2000 and OpenLinux but...

When I choose linux, it goes to blank screen with the words "stage1" and hangs...

Anybody experience anything similar?

Thanks!

OpenLinux... Are you using eDesktop 2.4? If so, then do a search for 'grub' here http://support.calderasystems.com/caldera

Read carefully about the Grub limitations.

Sorry, guess you meant 'Should I be using Grub to boot Win2000?'.

You can use either Grub or the W2K boot loader. Read the articles on Grub and Win2000 at Caldera's knowledgebase.

Should be more on the subjects at http://linux.nf/stepbystep.htm and http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue64/kohli.html
