shorewall is just a frontend (or maybe not even that, maybe just a script? does anyone know this) for iptables. If you want to configure iptables, use something like guarddog or firestarter or fwbuilder or gshield.
Why do you think you can set up shorewall using webmin? webmin can set up some things, but most things can't be done using webmin.
webmin isn't really that great - it just takes away the power of GNU/Linux, the control you have. if you want to learn GNU/Linux, you should start configuring stuff manually. If you don't want to learn the OS, I recommend you use guarddog.

Very opinionated post there mate.
In fact it does not take any power away from linux. It just offers a quick and easy route to take while adjusting some configurations. If I wanted I could use webmin and then fine tune through the usual config files, that is easy and perfectly acceptable.
Not every one needs to remember every config option for every server they run, infact for business people it's even counter productive in my opinion. Linux is a very powerful system and that power is not misused by providing an easy config platform, whether it's limited or not. It saves time and therefore money.
Whats more webmin offers direct access to the config files without logging into ssh. As well as offering improved copy and paste support since it is browser based.
In my opinion, what your preaching is down right counter productive
