Hello -

Is there a method or tool I can use to catalog the libraries and indicate their version installed on my Linux system?

The primary reason for doing this is I don't want to install old libraries over newer ones when installing/updating packages and their dependencies.

Thank you for any information or suggestions.

Check /usr/doc. It should contain documents on what packages are installed on your system as well as their versions.

Also - I realize the existence of RPM (I'm running SuSE 7.1) - I'm very curious about those packages which were not installed via RPM.
