I know it is possible but I forget how to do it. Can anyone tell me how to get the num lock key activated at boot time instead of having to press it. I know I'm lazy...

I think that I edit /etc/rc.config and change KBD_NUMLOCK="no" to "yes". (SuSE)

Thats 100% correct Scusi :), but the problem doesn't solves there, because after you execute "startx" the num lock will shutdown, and you have to press it again, but there is a way to solve that, i tried but i didn't make it, but you can try your self, it on the suse site, on the help stuff. Search there, you will find what you need.

Ro you could just go here (http://dforce.sh.cvut.cz/~seli/en/numlockx/).
Yeah, I know the page doesn't really tell you anything, but that's what the readme is for. I use it and it works for me.

Anybody know why this still isn't default X behaviour? I understand why it wouldn't be default on Sun machines and the like. But your average Xfree86 is installed on a x86 PC with a regular 101/102 key keyboard, requiring numlock to be ON.

Maybe one of the X developers has this hatred for num lock ...
