Serial-Install

Hello all I'm very much new to the Linux world, so here it goes.... I have a Sparc 2 that my brother gave me, it slow but hey it fires up, the downside is that there is no monitor nor a keyboard so my main access to the sparc is a serial cable that I made. Now for me Im useing Mandrake 6.2 dont know why but my bro said to start small. I have both CD's that I got off the net(ISO's)I burned and made a boot disk useing Rawrite. But I have been getting the following error when I try to do the new install useing the Bootdisk which is network.img file. BTW I have a CentreCOM 210TS (10 BaseT) adapter that looks like a game port that plugs into the sparc has a Rj45 at the end and I have that going to my Windows ME box. Im hoping to do a Install threw a FTP from my WinME to the sparc2.... Ummm oh yeah the error... says "failed to open /dev/tty1failed.
I can't recover from this." If anyone knows what im doing wrong let me know. This sparc 2 is going to be something that I can play with as well as learn what I can from it. "Self Teaching tool" anywayz...

Oh the other error I cant figure out when I boot with out a boot disk is this, and I cant get to root...it does this for ever. If there is away to edit the command let me know...
