How much RAM do you have?

Have you guys see how cheap RAM is theses days. Anyway I just got another 256MB of RAM. Now my grand total is 512MB of RAM. I was just wondering how much RAM are you guys running on your computers?

256M in the Winders box and 64M in the Linux box. The nixxer is an old Intel TX chipset that will only address 64M without a 5-10% performance hit. I'm wondering if Linux will make up for the difference if slap in another 64M.

256, but I rarely hit half use, let alone swap (512 MB of swap partitions). I've realised that I dont need anything more. I have gigs of free space, my processor usage (excluding seti), rarely hits 10%, I usualy have over 150MB of buffered/cached reported using free. The only upgrades I'd like to see are a bigger monitor (but then I'd have to move my desk), and a web cam. Oh, and a dxr2 to watch dvd's in linux.

Here's the kicker... the kid's box runs like a dog w/ a 266/64MB RAM. My guess? KDE 1.1.2 desktop. I'm trying to get things rearranged and just put Debian 2.2r2 on that one too, w/ IceWM or XFCE. I'd like to put Helix GNOME+Sawfish on there, but I'm not sure how well it'd run.

The fiance's Celeron 400 w/ 64MB is kinda getting a bit flaky, and I just reinstalled Win98 this summer (had a bizarre Samba problem that was M$'s fault). She want's to trade it in on GW2K's upgrade program, I want to migrate it to the kids, and build an AMD Athlon 1GHz to replace it (no more goofy internet keyboards, etc.) I think a bit more memory may beef it up for the interim, though.

Well 512MB is great but www.googlegear.com (http://www.googlegear.com) has got Micron PC 133 128MB for $48 and Micron PC 133 256 MB for $94. You just can't pass up a price like that. That's why I'm going to get 2 more 256MB chips, which will put my total at 1GB of RAM!

I have 192MB RAM in my desktop Linux system, and soon to be another 128!! I also have 192MB RAM in my Dell Inspiron Laptop, running WindowsME. The Linux system usually has close to 50MB Physical free and 120MB cached/buffered, and the ME box has 10-15MB free and uses around 30MB swap :-(

ANyway, RAM is the best upgade for Linux because of the way it uses it (properly, that is ;-)
