I installed TurobLinux 6.0 over the summer and haven't used it since. I'm back at school now and I want to use it again on the network. The only problem is that somehow I disabled the lilo loader to switch from Win98 to Linux. I don't have my installation CD or boot disk since I had essentially forgotten about it (and left it at home). I recently upgraded to WinME, but I don't think that matters at all. I want to know how to, first, get back into linux on my other partition, and second, how to reinstall the lilo loader. I have no problem switching to another version of linux if that would make things easier, b/c I haven't been able to find much support for TurboLinux. I tried downloading and making a boot disk for another distribution hoping that I could get back to mine, but it turned out to be an installation boot disk. I need some help, and as you can tell I am a newbie. Thanks in advance.

You lost LILO when you upgraded to WinMe, it overwrote the MBR during the install process. I've got an old TurboLinux (3.01) boot disk around here that I can send via e-mail. It's a big file and barely fits on a floppy.

If you could dig up a Linux CD of some sort you could use the Rawrite utility in the dosutils folder on the CD.

In DOS change to the CD drive and then \dosutils. Type rawrite at the prompt and hit enter. It'll ask you which file to write and you type \images\boot.img. Hit enter and off you go.

Lemme know if you want the attachment.

I actually disabled the lilo loader long before I upgraded to WinME, but in either case I don't think that matters. It has been so long I just don't recall how I did it. I hope the file will work. Thanks.
