I'm running mandrake7.2. During I set up network configuration it asked me to insert mandrake7.2 cdrom and it said "acroread needs libdl.so.1" or " lidl.so.1 is needed by acroread" something like that?! and I click force to continue ),after rebooted, I can't start X "xauth: error in loading shared libraries:libXmu.so.6: cannot open shared object file:no such file or directory
...libxi.so.6..libXext.so.6...libXpm.so.4..."
I have tried to uninstall XFree86 and reinstall it ,but it didn't work! Could someone tell me whats wrong? Please.

I am not sure about mandrake, I have never used it. But, if I remember right it is based somewhat on the RedHat distro which includes a really cool way of telling what part of a package belongs to the main package. The command in RH is rpm -q --redhatprovides <filename>. So in your file examples under RH it would look like; rpm -q --redhatprovides libXpm.so.4 (enter), and it would tell you the main package that it belongs to, so you knew what package to install. I have seen this command only in one book of much reading so you may have to do a little hunting.

Good luck, and may the force be with you...

Linux, is there really any other OS worth using?

I know libXmu.so.6,libxi.so.6, libXext.so.6,.. is in XFree86-4.0.1-28 package and I can find them in /usr/XR11/lib.
I don't know why X can't open it.

Anyone? I don't want to reinstall it again.
How can I reinstall mandrake7.2 without remove the data and setting? Thanks
