I am trying to get myself away from windows so I just want a small partition. How big should I make a partition for win98? I just want the OS and maybe a few programs. Maybe space for one game too...

I currently have 1GB for win but I think I will shrink it down to 600MB.

I'd leave it at a gig, or maybe even buy a older/used 2gb drive just for it.

If you think it through, 200-250 for the install

10-50 for drivers

swap space

now you still need the space for everything additional, with windows bloat you may need more than a gig!

Actually, I tried installing 98 on a 500mb partition - it won't let you. So I'd still stick with the 1gb, or the second drive.

Thanks for responding!

As it is now, I have one gig for win98 and 3 gig for linux. I still have about 600 MB on the win98 partition.

You can considerably lighten 98 by downloading 98lite. The free download will decouple ie and allow you to delete it. And also get rid of all the web integration that bogs the ***** down. Strip it down bit at a time then drive if from you system completely. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
