During the installation of Linux Mandrake 7.2 and even with programs while in Linux, I can't create a bootdisk. During the installation, the error was "error creating mkbootdisk". When I try to yse drakfloppy, at the end it says that it can't open /boot/boot.b file.
Also, I can't even access the floppy drives or cd-rom drives on any user, even as root. I know that it is mounted.

You KNOW it is mounted? You don't need it to be.
For example if you use lilo (what DOES MDK use?) type "lilo" and you'll create a boot disk. (lilo.conf has to have a line "boot=/dev/fd0" inside)

Mandrake 7.2 uses Grub as the default boot loader. If you enabled Supermount during install all you have to do is insert the media in the drive.

You can do it the old fashioned way in a terminal. Make sure you've got a floppy in the drive before doing this.

dd if=/boot/vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0 bs=8192

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges.

If you are someone like me who just want to have a emergency disk at hand, why not go get a premade one?
Try tomsrtbt.
