I was thinking of getting this for my FreeBSD system. Is it any good? Is it worth putting on Hard Drive?

It sure is...it's what I'm running right now on my FreeBSD box. If you installed the ports...just cd to /usr/ports/x11/fluxbox and make install. sharth 03-06-2003, 10:49 PM I was never partial to tabs, but the original, blackbox, has served me well, and I enjoy it. But its all personal preferance and the processer speed / ram available that makes the choice. try it out. see how it goes :) SubDefy 03-08-2003, 01:30 PM well what i like about fluxbox is there is no taskbar its all on your rightclick and its very minimalist. I have just gotten everything working perfect on it and i love it :D but im going to try enlightment but i dont like those tabs i think they look dumb MMA 03-08-2003, 01:51 PM Has every one forgot about Openbox? what about Hackbox? Also Waimea, (i know it does have the name *box). All of these Wm are 99% same. except they have there own small features, like fluxbox with its tabs. Try them all. I have Openbox at the moment. I first tried Blackbox, didn't like it. Then i tried Fluxbox. I liked it. Then i saw Openbox. I liked it (becuase of KDE/Gnome support, which fluxbox did not have before), i then tried waimea, its alright. But i knew everything about Openbox and wasn't bothered to learn to use a new WM. So i kept with Openbox. Psycho 03-09-2003, 02:04 AM You could always turn off the tabs in fluxbox, I have... 0.1.14-1 with anti-aliasing turned on  shadowrider 03-11-2003, 05:34 PM Originally posted by Psycho You could always turn off the tabs in fluxbox, I have... 0.1.14-1 with anti-aliasing turned on  what does the anti-aliasing do? MMA 03-11-2003, 05:40 PM Originally posted by shadowrider what does the anti-aliasing do? I asked the exact same question once. and never understood what the big deal was. Until i updates my Mozilla to a new version which included AA fonts. and MAAANNN there was a difference. before small fonts was clear enought. But now small fonts are smooth and very nice on your eye's :D shadowrider 03-11-2003, 05:43 PM ah..okay so it's particularly for fonts? so how 'd you enable anti-aliasing on for fluxbox? i've already installed it. I think in the newer versions its already there in default. But if you have an older version i think its a pain in the backside to get working. try upgrading fluxbox. OR maybe you already have it without even knowing :D dstammer 03-12-2003, 02:26 AM Hi, I installed Fluxbox last night on my Debian 3.0 computer. I like it a lot so far. Enough that I uninstalled Window Maker that I was using. I like the tabs too. dstammer 03-12-2003, 02:30 AM I installed Fluxbox 0.1.10 for Debian last night as that seems to be the latest version. Is that correct? Or am I missing a later version? On the Fluxbox web site they have 0.1.14 listed but maybe it's not a .deb file. And that's not what I got when I installed it with apt - I got 0.1.10. It only becomes DEBS when they have tested it and so on. The best thing you can do is download the CVS version and install from there. Its the absolute latest. rapture 03-12-2003, 05:17 PM Or you can go to apt-get.org (http://www.apt-get.org) and see if they've backported the lastest version of fluxbox. Which I think they have. justlinux.com
