ok well i installed the drivers and stuff k, q3 works great !

till i reboot , then it doesnt work , till i re-install the drivers , its like mandrake 8 is replacing the mesa drivers or something

any ideas?

Had this problem with the NVIDIA drivers and Mandrake 8.0. It seemed like Mandrake was replacing the customised XF86Config with its own.

I solved it by:
# chmod 444 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

That way Mandrake can still read the file but can't mess with it. Of course you can still edit it if you're root (VI will prompt you to overwrite, for example).
