Dear LNO people,
I have upgraded my win 98 system to win me because some of my friends wanted me to use it. Although I do not want to since it sorts of restricts DOS access. But what can i do?
My question is,
How can I use loadlin to boot linux using autoexec and config.sys if DOS access is not permitted even if i used the system configuration utility?

i think loadlin assumes you make a small dos partition at the front of your drive

have you read this NHF? ( http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/osbooting/loadlin.html )

you could try this -> http://www.xosl.org/
i haven't tried it yet, but am going to tonight

good luck! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to use loadlin with an unmodified WinME, because WinME doesn't let you do anything in DOS at all. It's possible to hack WinME to give you DOS support back, but it's kinda a messy process.

You gave into MS because your friends wanted you to? Get better friends, that's my advice. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
