Blackbox & desktop icons

How do I put desktopicons on my blackbox desktop?? I know you can only do this with an external program; somebody told me to use idesk, but I can't compile this program on my red hat 8! Aren't there any other program who can do this??

Rox filer can handle the desktop.

Is it normal that i cannot put .png icons on the desktop???

download rox filer and read the man pages on the "Pinboard" feature

and yes you cannot put icons on the screen for blackbox and its clones it is a window manager not a desktop environment

I believe this is possible with fluxbox though I have not tried it myself.
