Waimea sure is a trip, i need a map to figure out where all the desktop slips to, left & right??? up & down too??? yeppers three virtual desktops slipping from left to right & three going down..

seems pretty good, plenty light & Stable, i like its frugal menu, i assume editing it is similar to Blackbox...

slippery like a wet bar of soap in a hot bath, lol:D

waimea is nice, I used it for a while, but it's not really stable, and it's missing some key features, like smart window placement.

the window palcement thingy was a little off, (but not real bad)atleast i could get to the maxamize button on mozilla and get it straightend out lol...

I actually like this wm. The xinerama takes some getting used to, though.

Yes, it is similar to blackbox in many ways...I think it's a hack of it, IIRC

for a while now i beleive. Just add
moveToSmartPlace : Maprequest,
to your action file ( ie under window.passiveclient ). There is also a moveToPointer action.

You can put shortcuts on your desktop? How do I do that?
And can somebody tell me what the keycombination is for going to the next/previous desktop? :)

waimea is more configurable than most WM's, including keys. Most keybindings that you will add will go under globalKeyBindings in your action file. Here are a few of mine for reference:

DEF globalKeyBindings {

{aterm -tr +sb -fg white -bg black -fn fixed -sh 50 -name fast-term} : KeyPress = X & Mod4Mask,
{aumix -w -5} : Keypress = XF86AudioLowerVolume,
{aumix -w +5} : Keypress = XF86AudioRaiseVolume,
{aumix -w mute} : Keypress = XF86AudioMute,
{xmms -r} : KeyPress = XF86AudioPrev,
{xmms -f} : KeyPress = XF86AudioNext,
{xmms -t} : KeyPress = XF86AudioPlay,
{xmms -s} : KeyPress = XF86AudioStop,

Waimea doesnt have its own desktop icons, but it does work with kde, gnome and others (rox, idesk, etc). Infact, you can have multiple desktops, with different DE's on each (dont know why you would want to do that tho).

As far as switching viewports (i assume you mean viewports, which are different than desktops, but waimea has both), it depends on your action file. I dont remeber what the default is.

Just poke around in your action file (there is a good one to look at on the waimea page - part of the Decade theme). there is also #waimea on freenode if you want 'live help', im sure someone there will be able to answer any questions.

also- here (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=21492&highlight=waimea) is a link to a thread @ the gentoo forums with some more simple waimea config tips

hehehe... It's been a while since I've looked at waimea. I remember now why I didn't pick waimea to be my desktop.

It wasn't the lack of keyboard shortcuts, it was the lack of being able to move and resize windows with the keyboard.
I got used to being able to do that with sawfish. :D

Yeah, I can move, resize, minimize, maximize, max horizontally and vertically, close, and scan cycle thru open windows, and even specific types of windows -- term windows, mozilla windows, etc....

Once things like that are available in waimea, I might change, but until then.

Some of waimea's features are interesting though.
