Hey,

I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 with the IR-Drive and recently I got it sort of working, including the remote control. But most of what you pay for is the actual software that comes with it to enchance the sound.

Is there any software for linux that will sit directly on /dev/dps and /dev/mixer that will enchance/alter sound before it gets to xmms/mplayer etc...?

Is that possible? because it would be sweet to enchance bass, treble, some 3d sound and stuff like the creative software lets you do.

Anything in the mixers (kmix, aumix etc.) that would have support for the bass, treble and other options?

Are you using the drivers from http://opensource.creative.com/ ?

No, no, no.. I don't think you understand. In the mixers when I use the latest drivers, the sound is 5.1, so rear and side speakers sound very electric and there's no voices. This is a common feature for movies but it absolutely sucks for listening to music.

I'm looking for something that will allow me to use a pre-equilizer and special effects tools to create atmospheric sound with presets that will allow me to have that 'electric artificial sound' I get by default. I want some sort gui to configure all this because none of this is found in the mixer.

Even if I use latest drivers, there are serious problems in the mixer. The bass and treble have unexpected results and volume controls the deepness of sound, PCM controls the rear speakers, etc, and front speakers DO NOT have a volume control with the latest drivers. It's very buggy so I'd like some software to control the sound.

Have you tried the ALSA drivers?
