Just looking for a little reassurance here. I've had concerns about re-installing Mandrake 7.2 since I upgraded my system from my Abit BE6-II to my Abit KT7A-RAID board. I used to have a 3-way setup by using the W2K boot loader to load into W98SE or W2K Pro, and then a LILO disk to boot into Mandrake. After upgrading, and installing a few new drives, I tried to recreate the setup I had before. W98SE installed first, then W2K Pro. Windoze boot loader works fine.. I then installed Mandrake 7.2, and the install went without a hitch...to a point. When I tried to boot from the LILO boot disk, I would get "LI" and then the system would hang.
I checked a few other Linux-oriented newsgroups and forums, and I have gotten replies that it is fine to let LILO install itself on the MBR of the primary (hda) drive. I was afraid that installing LILO in this fashion would overwrite my W2K boot loader, thereby leaving me unable to boot into W98SE or W2K Pro. I was told that LILO would come up, offering me the choice to boot into Linux or Windows. If I choose Linux, of course Mandrake would boot, if I choose Windows, I *should* be greeted with the W2K boot loader offering W2K or W98SE boot options. Can anyone verify that this is indeed what I should expect, or would I hose my system if I installed LILO this way..
Any info is *GREATLY* appreciated.
Please respond here, or feel free to drop me an email.
Thanks again.
