Message Board/Newsgroup Software

Ok... Maybe someone can help me out here...

I would like to know what software people use for hosting message boards like this and news groups...

I understand that they are two different animals... Just want peoples opinions... Not sure if I am wanting to setup a newsgroup or a message board and want to look at both options.

For newsgroups, most Linux distros come with the newserver software but I have never tried or looked into it.

For a bulliten board like this one, you can get http://www.phpbb.com/ for free. It is very nice and you really can't beat the price ;)
