Lynx is a good text browser.
I would use konqueror as a graphical browser or Opera.

Only use text browswers if you're like working remotely or some junk. otherwise. they're lonley!
try BrowseX
that's good stuff too.

My brouser of choice. I can't wait to see it running under linux with win 4 lin.
No other brouser gives me as much screen real-estate on my pissy little 15 inch monitor, without losing any habitual functionality (ie... the buttons etc at the top), as does IE.

I find nutscrape way slower then my IE does. I do not nutscrape in win so I didn't have the background to compare it to the Linux ver. Is there a faster browser for linux? or even better did I not read that it (IE)is being worked on for linux?

Personally the most stable browser I find are the text browsers. Netscape is good if you don't mind it crashing every now and then. If you're going to use a text browser, go with links rather than lynx. links offers table and frames support so the website you're viewing looks very much as how it would look like under Netscape (without Java/Javascript/images/sound/etc... of course).

For really fast browsing w/ table support, try links, which is text based. If you want a GUI one, I think Galeon is supposed to be blazing fast, and getting better. I haven't tried it recently, but it uses the Mozilla rendering engine, I believe. Basically the idea is: strip all the bloat away from Mozilla, leaving _only_ the html browser. You now have Galeon.
Last I checked, it was a bit of a chore to set up, mainly because you have to download and install Mozilla first, IIRC, since it uses some of the core of Mozilla. I'm looking forward to when it can actually be d/l'ed as a standalone package, w/o all the Mozilla stuff.

I've been using netscape for about 3 months. Until today that is, when I downloaded the Opera debian packages. I've never seen a browser that worked so fast and was so stable.
I run linux on an old 350 so I don't have all the CPU thats required to run netscape at a decent speed (i.e. what you type is lagged by about 5 seconds before it apears).
The next version of Opera for linux will be free, so try it out now.

I got Navigator 4.76, Mozilla 0.7 , Konqueror 2.0.1 and Opera beta 5. Opera is the fastest one, I can't wait for it to be finished with java support. I'll even pay for it.

Definitely go with opera it rocks. Once they get some javascript support there will won't be any comparison. I wish there support for style sheets was a little better though.
