Xwindows crashed-Can't login

[Sensei]

Ok...Xwindows crashed so I had to do a hard reboot. Keyboard and mouse froze--everything.
I hit the reset button.

Now it apparently messed up something heres the error I get:


Fatal Server Error:
could not open the default font 'fixed'

blah
blah

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or shutdown)

Now here is what I've done to try and fix the problem...

-#'ed out any line in xdm files that refer to the font fixed.
-changed my font path in XF86Config
(which is not part of the problem)
-reran xfs

I may just be burnt out and overthinking this and possibly something really easy here.

Any ideas?

backed up my home partition and reinstalled.

needed a good cleaning anyways...plus upped my / partition size--maybe now star office will inflate properly? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
