Lilo problems

Hey

I'm having a problem with Lilo.
I installed RedHat 8.0 and but every time I'm trying you boot in to it I'm getting “L 01 01 01 ...”
error.
I have two hard drives the 1st one hda is my WinXP drive and the 2nd one hdb is my Linux drive.
I didn't install Lilo on the MBR because I have WinXP install on that drive.
I tried to reinstall Lilo but I can't get to work. It's telling me that hdb in not the 1st drive.

I'm not sure how I should fix this problem. The only way I can get in to Linux is by booting thought a boot disk.
Anyways any idea how I can fix the problem.

You have a few choices.

1. Install Lilo in the mbr of hda (XP drive)

2. Use the XP bootloader (boot.ini) to dualboot.

3. Use Partition Magic 8.0 to move the XP over a bit to create a 20-30mb /boot partition at the beginning of hda, install Lilo in /boot and make that the active partition.

4. Continue using the bootdisk.

If you decide to use the XP bootloader, search the 'How I did it' forum for i.e. 'windows boot.ini' to find a few tutorials.

I want to use WinXP for dual Booting, but when I tried it give me the some error.
I found instruction on the web to dual boot Linux and WinXP I used the dd command but it didn’t work I’m still getting “L 01 01 …”
I’m think I have Lilo installed incorrectly.

You need to have Lilo installed in the Linux boot/root partition for the XP bootloader to work.
