Can i run gnome apps in kde?

i want to get aim and i use kde, so would i be able to install gaim for example in kde and would it work? like i would just install the tarball / rpm normally? thanks in advance for any help

As long as you have the gnome stuff installed it will work fine, this is most likely the case. The rpm is installed as usual.

If you're in gnome then almost all of your kde apps will run straight out of gnome and vice versa. To answer your question "probably". It depends on the app. It's worth a try. Can't help more cuz I haven't used that particular app.

I have been switching back and forth between KDE version 1.2 and 2.1. I use several different Gnome apps. with both:
gftp
gnumeric
abiword

I make a kde link on the desktop with an icon, and each program works well.

You may need to have the GTK lib installed, but quite possibly, not. Someone with greater expertise will have to contribute on that point.
