I have installed both Mandrake and Red hat. It seems only Mandrake supports the 32-bit colour setting. Am i doing something wrong or doesnt Red hat work with 32-bit?

Its not really distro specific. You just have to reconfigure X to use 32bit color. Just do a search for reconfiguring X and read up on it before you do it because you can screw X up pretty good.

It also depends on you video chipset. Some like the ATI Rage128 (r128) will only support up to 24bit color. Mandrake will let you set your color choice to 32bit, but will only use 24bit. Most of the time you can't notice the difference anyways.
