Hey everyone.. OK.. here's my problem. I need a linux that's small, and one that I can put onto less than 10 1.4MB floppies. I need to be able to install it on my machine that is also running windows2k. dos linuxs won't work. I can't find my old install disks for redhat, or any other releases. I'm sunk. How do I get through this guys(and girls)?

do you have a LAN to connect to? ie a network card/connection?
if so , you can install debian with 2 + 4 (drivers) floppy disks, and if you don't have nic, add 11 more disks for installing the base
so debian floppy install can be done with 6 or 17 floppies
freebsd can be installed purty easy from 2 floppies , again if you have a nic connecting you to a LAN with broadband/shared internet access
Nopers.. I do have a NIC but no connection. I'm strictly through phone line right now. I just want a small dist. I don't want all the fancy shmancy stuff.. just the basics, but must have compiler.

There ARE linux distros that fit on a floppy...can't think of any of their names right now tho.

but not with a compiler, i don't think, that makes it bigger and junk
do the debian install from floppy (17 is close enough to 10 :p ) and then with the base debian installation, you can setup your modem and download the compiler stuff
