I personally like Macsyma it's about $300

and there's maple for linux. i don't know if it's free though. if you find a copy on the net let me know. http://www.maplesoft.com/

MATLAB http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif though it's not quite the same (but it can do a lot of the same stuff with the right toolboxes, and a lot more).

Of course, it's also not free.
