Hi
I am having a comp with RHL 7.1 and win2k.I was never serious about Linux before I installed win2k. it is so resource hungry that even my 128 MB RAM and 850 Mhz (pIII) are not enough.So, I thought of giving a trial with linux.I am very much familiar with Windows.But in linux, I am a plain novice.

I started tweaking rhl for my purposes.Every thing went well till I configured for Xwindows and graphic login.Once I started tweaking gnome removing games and some of the apps came along with it, I started losing one by one.I made mistake some where, which I don't know.First default icons disspeared ( message:"default set of icons not found.Check the installation." I tried installing at least 4 times, but invain. After that some thing happened in such a way, I am seeing only blue screen of gnome.I shifted to kde, where every thing is okay.The system is healthy.I want to ask following questions

1) How can I get back every thing back provided I have rhl 7.1 cds with me?
2) If Q-1 is not possible, how can I remove gnome WO disturbing other apps
3) It seems the present ver is server version.I want to shift to workstation.How can I shift to it with minimum loss.Or to put it in short way, How can I shift to workstation from server.

* I took a back-up of all my data.So, I am ready to fire

Thanks in advance

Try doing a complete re-install.. i think i saw an option during installation... just tell it not to install Gnome
