Hey all,

I'm running LM7.2 with KDE2... I'm running in no x-terminals, and I'm not logged in anywhere else...

Now, normally gkrellm shows a number of procs in the "Proc" graph and thats it... but every once in a while it displays "X users" where X is a number 1 or greater... now, I understand that when I open a terminal, it shows up in this program as a user... but like I said, I'm not in any terminals right now

How do I find out what this user is, and if its malicious, how to get rid of it... here's my hosts.* files:

hosts.allow:
ALL:localhost

should I replace localhost *with my host*?

hosts.deny:
ALL:ALL

What do ya think?
Bill

ps aux will show you all the users currently running stuff (and what they are running). Keep in mind that even if root never logs in, many programs are run as root at the startup (simply because they have to). w will show you who is logged in (as will users, with less info).

How is your PC networked? Home network with cable/adsl connection? Dial-up internet access?
