Could someone please supply detailed idiotproof instructions for loading drivers, or whatever needs to be done? blizz 02-23-2003, 11:56 AM Hi, For Sound - Try to run (as root) sndconfig This may work for you. At the end of the setup, Linus says how he pronounces "Linux". (On RedHat, "sndconfig" can be also run via the "setup" utility--type setup . ) For ethernet - If you have redhat version below 7.1 (as root) netcfg If version 7.3 or above (as root) neat This should give you a graphical interface to configure ethernet. If text mode is more to your liking run (as root) setup Good luck DMR 02-23-2003, 02:15 PM If blizz's suggestions don't do the trick: 1. Turn off Plug-N-Play OS support in your BIOS, it oftenn causes resource (usually IRQ) conflicts, most notably with sound and network cards. 2. If you want idiotproof instructions, you'll have to be more specific in describing your problem: - Exactly what version of Redhat? - Make/model of Network card. - Make/model of sound card. - Exactly what kind of errors are you getting? - What is your network card connecting to (LAN, cable modem, DSL modem, etc.) - Do you need to use DHCP, or do you have a static IP address? justlinux.com
