I have an Intel 486dx2 at 66mhz with 8 rams sitting on a desk feeding dust. I just thought it will be nice to put linux into it and play/learn about it.

Can anyone give me some advice on which Linux OS I can download that will support my slow system?

Thanks :)

I read few advices on slackware linux OS. I went to slackware.com and they got few differents linux for download. Which one should I get?

Let me be more specific, I am planning to dedicate this machine just for linux, so I probably will not install any Windows on it.

Thanks for everyone help. :)

I'm about to start loading Linux on a bunch of my 486's and I was planning on just using a Linux From Scratch method. It's a bit more advanced just using a distro, but I should be able to optimize for slowness and memory limits. Guide can be found here (http://www.linuxdoc.org/LDP/lfs/LFS/index.html).

i would suggest  Slackware  also. Maybe debian would be good -- i don't know cause i've never used it. i would suggest staying away from mandrake, as it is aimed for pentium and higher. you mostlikely will not be able to use X, so i would go with  Slackware
