Cheers ;) wreckd 09-04-2001, 05:23 PM but if it's a raid then you'll get 60 gigs with double redundancy, right?....not 180 gigs on a "single drive". just in case you...yeah. i have nothing else to contribute here. bdg1983 09-04-2001, 05:39 PM Originally posted by killerasp: im having sex as im posting this response! The one handed typist. slacker_x 09-04-2001, 05:50 PM Originally posted by wreckd: but if it's a raid then you'll get 60 gigs with double redundancy, right?....not 180 gigs on a "single drive". there are different types of raid. the simplest of which are striping and mirroring. striping allows you to make one big drive that is faster than each individual drive. mirroring allows you to make a redundant drive. I'm a little confused as to why you would want to do software raid in striping mode though. With the overhead of software raid, will you really see a performance increase? what about reliability, if one of those drives goes, your raid set is totally gone. justlinux.com
