Mandrake 8.8? Wow nice to meet you future man! :)

Seriously though, you can import windows fonts. mandrake control center -> system -> fonts.

In Konqueror I set my minium font size to 12 and the medium font size to I think 14.

Edit: Oh and in konqueror configuration I also set the fonts for the default charset to helvetica, adobe-courier, times, helvetica, helvetica, helvetica. Pages usually render identical to IE for me, but I also imported a few windows fonts.

Also in Configuration -> KDE -> LookNFeel -> Fonts, I have them all set to helvetica 12 except for the 2nd one which I'm using adobe-courier 12. Important thing it just to make sure they look decent whatever font you may like that's available.

Are you using Konqueror? If so, then try Settings/Configure Konqueror/Konqueror Browser/Appearance and there you will find where you can change the fonts. I would suggest Helvetica as it seems to be the best.

If using Netscape, then try Edit/Preferences and then change to whatever font and size seems the best. Click on ?? Always use my fonts (or something similiar).

My fonts in Konqueror look better than anything I've seen in MSIE.

Search on Google for "Font Deuglification Howto". Helps a bit.

I've noticed that the "verdana" font is particularly ugly (and often listed first in web docs  , why can't they use plain simple sans-serif ?! ). If you find a way of substituting it with any other font please let me know. I've been trying modify my xfs configuration and to make an alias for verdana in my /etc/X11/XftConfig, but eventually got tired and given up.
