Ok, I'm running Mandrake 8.1 just downloaded and whenever I put in a cd either regular or DVD, nothing shows up....I would like to see an Icon on my desktop to at least access it. I know that drake 8.1 now uses supermounting....so why can't I access the my CD roms?! I have a Liton 16x10x40x Recorder and a Toshiba 16x40x DVD....and they worked fine on the install....so can someone tell me what the heck is up with drake 8.1?! It's the best distro I've seen and this is my only grief!

Gee! Thanks for the HELP! Anyway, I was able to get it working but only from creating new icons on the desktop.

Hi there Aeroe,

The way I had to do it was to right click, select Create New, CD Devices. Make sure to click Details and select your mounted drive from the list then click ok when done. This method fixed all my drive problems including the root tree of course after use of the created button. I'm dumbfounded as to why this occurs after an install?!
Other than that, Drake 8.1 is really awesome with my only exception of that my shutdown locks up. But hey, at least the Beta 2 shutdown properly! :)
Aside from the quirks, Kudos to all the Developers! I really love the improvements on RPM installs and everything else! Don't know why they didn't include AOL's NEW Linux Instant Messenger which is a must have!
