Hello,

I'm considering buying this external hd for my system:

Maxtor USB 2.0/Firewire 120GB 7200RPM
- Personal Storage 5000DV, external

1. Does (Red Hat) Linux support this kind of drives
2. Is it possible to install Linux on this drive. (Perhaps using A: to boot)

regards, Xanoo

1. USB 2 support is still a bit developmental. I think firewire is OK though, so you should be able to use it. Not sure about RedHat - check their compatibility list. You may need to compile a kernel, or some new modules.

2. Should be possible to install it. How easy it will be to persuade it to boot from that is debatable. (Meaning I don't know ;) )
