What's the best way to learn? I know C++ already, but my professor has thrown us directly into the deep end and I can't even doggie-paddle yet.

I have a project due the 15th and I am stuck. See my post in the Programming forum if you wanna help.

I know it's not much, but try going to Experts Exchange...the name says it all; go to the following URL:

Check out "Thinking in Java" on www.bruceeckel.com (http://www.bruceeckel.com)

And our Programming forum has some people who are pretty good with Java (*ahem*Dru Lee Parsec*ahem*) http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well, I try to be the resident Java Guru.

Here's my suggestiion:

Get and install JDK1.3 and the html documentation from www.javasoft.com. (http://www.javasoft.com.)

Get and install the Java Tutorial from the same URL.

Get the book "Thinking In Java" by Bruce Eckel. It's also available for free online at www.bruceeckel.com (http://www.bruceeckel.com)

Post your Java questions in the programming forum. I tend to hang out there (although latly work has kept me too busy to do much advice giving). There are a few really good java guys on that forum and several newbie programmers.

Good luck.
