Haven't seen a cablemodem setup question posted for at least an hour. ;)
Is your ethernet card detected and up and running?
ifconfig
will tell you.
I do know that Mandrake has documentation on their site for setting up cablemodems and internet sharing.
It's somewhere in the Mandrake configuration utility. Sorry as I can't remember the exact name of the app. I haven't tried or used Mandrake yet.

Here's a sample from Mandrake.

Your welcome.
Use ifconfig to check if you ethernet card is up and running and then try the Mandrake docs to configure your ip address (gateway, dns servers etc.) or setup as dhcp if necessary.
Post back if your having problems with any of them.
The most important is to make sure you nic is detected and configured.

You will need the DNS, the gateway, the domain, your IP, all from your ISP, in drake 8, under the control center, add it under network, then cable modem <not sure if thats what it's called but something close to that>
also find out if your ISP is using DHCP.
On a note with that, my @home ISP IS DHCP, and drake8 would not let me get online with it, So i unchecked DHCP and add my IP # that I have had for 6 months, and worked like a charm.

If you still have a Windows pc hooked up to @home, you can run (Start/Run) winipcfg to find out what ip address you are currently assigned and then click on more info to get the dns servers etc.
