I am very new the Linux. I am using the Mandrake 7.2 distribution. I want to know if there is an easy way to find out what version of XFREE86 was installed. Is there a command I can issue in a shell? Is there an about screen somewhere?

try this

XFree86 -version

[ansivirus]

In mandrake 7.2 it is 4.0.1 unless you upgraded but I always just type

X -version

-ansivirus
