i recently installed SuSE Linux 7.0 on my computer and im just really gettn started on learning some of it now u see why im here anyways I have configured my sound card or so it says i have but there is a BIG problem when i try to play a cd on my computer or try to set up sounds for different actions on my computer there is no sound made I have a crystal semiconducter WSS/SB sound card which linux does detect the only problem is like i stated earlier i get no sound at all only sound i get is hearing the keys click. Can someone please help me id appreciate it

I just noticed your post here. I replied to the other one. Have you tried opening a terminal window and executing the command sndconfig?

You may also need to open your mixer afterward and crank up the volume -or uncheck mute.

Some soundcards are not well supported, and some do not work at all.

BTW -I think Mandrake 7.2 Linux has the best hardware support out-of-the-box. Also, Linux Magazine has called Mandrake 7.2 "the best newbie distribution on the planet." If you get it get the deluxe version - there are many more options than the so-called "Complete" version. Although the "Complete" version works well for general purpose computing.
