Here is my set up.....RH8 ATI Radeon Pro 9500, AMD 2600 +

I had a ASUS A7N8X deluxe that went south and of course I couldn't get chromium to run worht a damn because of the lack of AGP support with that chipset.

So what board should I get to replace it and be able to run RH8? I would like to find one that has onboard LAN and maybe sound but sound is not critical as I want to try our Turtle Beach's sound car.......

I'm assuming that I need the VIA chipset to get the AGP support I need and all......at least AGP support without having to jump through hoops to get to work.

Thanks.

Asus is the best, IMO. Next would be MSI, IMO. I have experiences with both brands. They gave me little to no trouble, when configured properly.

If you're looking for a AMD board, ECS is worth a look. You'd get most band for the buck.

what happend to the board?

iirc, the A7N8X is based on the nforce2 chipset. and that chipset supports AGP8X (as in 8X in A7N8X) so how is there a lack of AGP with that chipset?

and wtf is "chromium"? If I had to venture I guess its a theme.

do you want to sell that board?

Yes I know that it does but from what I've been told on this forum (and from my own experience) is the nForce2 chipset doesn't have the greatest support under Linux. There is support added with the 2.4.20 kernel but it isn't nearly as supported as the VIA chipset.

and wtf is "chromium
It's a game that comes with Linux

Sorry no......keeping it around just in case :)

Might also want to look at Dual Processor motherboards, like those from Tyan. Start with one processor .... wait a few months until you can afford another one .... then pop the new one in and ... TADA ! A performance boost.
