Is it possible to connect graphically (as well as with a command line) to a linux box from another computer (win2k for example).

I have no problem with ssh into the box, but a graphical interface would be handy.

Thanks,
Gus

Yup. Very possible to connect to a Linux box from a Windows computer. It's called X-Windows. I can't remember where to find it, but just run a search.

Anyway, once you install X-Windows (which is not free, BTW) run it, and then find yourself a program called Putty (this is free). Download that. Then...to top it all off, you need to use Putty to log in to the machine, and you need to know the command that will let a Linux graphical interface be displayed on your desktop.

It does depend on how your system is setup, but for mine, it is:

sentenv DISPLAY IP.ADDRESS.HERE

That works fine with me. Okay. Hope that helps.

hummingbird exceed is an expense way to do it. VNC is a free way of doing it. Do a google search on both. Get the one that fits your needs. Both are good and both work.
