ip address in address bar

I have my url registered with a dns server so when you type www.mysitename.com my site comes up but in the address bar it still shows http://myipaddress instead of the sitename. Does anyone know how i can change it to read my site name instead of the ip address? Is it a config file or do i have to do something from where i registered my name?
