I just wanted the thank everyone here at Linuxnewbie for the wealth of information and knowledge I have accumulated over the months. Though I've never actually posted a question, just reading the posts and helping where I could have been a rewarding experience. Most if not all the answers are here, you just have to take the time to search for them.

Today I will be admitted to hospital for a bone marrow transplant (not looking for pity). Friday I get the big chemo and Monday the transplant. Being a dangerous procedure, I do hope to be back eventually. I'm planning to take my laptop with me and if I can get outside access and am up to it, will try to continue on here. Six years of treatments have finally come to this. For anyone that follows hockey, it's the same cancer as Roger Nielson (Multiple Mylenoma). Enough said already.

I wish you all good health and read your documentation.

Best of luck, although I doubt they'll let you near a computer until you're out of ICU (do bone marrow transplants require a visit to the ICU?)

As a survivor of the dreaded C my prayers are with you. I recommend lots of vitamins etc., they help keep the body strong and help repair the immune system. Cannibis will help. Maybe our society will realize that someday. Stay positive and tell yourself you are healthy.

Thank-you all. I'm overwelmed by your wishes and prayers.

The nursing staff unlocked a room that has a PC available so I could check my work email and Linuxnewbie of course. What a pleasant surprise.

Not doing too bad right now. Had the chemo on Friday and they give iv meds to control the nausea. My blood counts are starting to decrease and by Tuesday will be in full isolation, be getting transfusions etc. and probably won't be able to get to a PC. Brought my laptop with me, but the room only has a digital phone outlet. A doctor ordered a analog outlet to be installed, although by the time it is, I won't feel like using it much. Though I had better reply now.

They started a 96 hour saline IV at 1 litre per 4 hours. Every 1-1 1/2 hours I have to (you know what) into a container, measure how much collected and the time.

If no complications, I may be released in another 14 days or so. Will be nice to get back home, plug the laptop back into my home network, lay on the couch and spend a couple of hours a day at Linuxnewbie.

At least my laptop is dual boot with Linux and can hopefully spend time configuring a few more items.

Thanks once again for all your thoughts and will try to give an update whenever possible.

Best Regards

Mike
