I've been looking around the net for 5 button mouse solutions for linux. I really don't see any. I just wanna be able to assign Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to my extra mouse buttons on my trackball.

The solutions that I have found have been very vague in their descriptions of how to get it to work. Like check an X option or something like that. Sorry, I'm new to linux.

There's a file in the Library here that tells you how to configure the mouse...just click on the "Library" button on top of the page

If you want the side buttons to work, you'll have to remap them...not too hard to do. Follow the help file in the library and you'll be fine.

PS..don't apologize for being new...we all were once and are still learnin' ;)

I don't see anything in the library about configuring a 5 button mouse.
