I was thinking the other day...

What if someone created a .bashrc file that had alias for DOS commands in Linux? I think it would help a lot of windows users convert to Linux. Of course thats the lazy way out but hey, Windows users are usually lazy... I was thinking about this...has this ever been done?

This is a bad idea because:

1) Linux is not Windows
2) Linus does not play "Follow the leader" to an inferior operating system
3) If the user is too lazy to learn - they should stick to Windows

If I remember correctly, there's a package containing programs with DOS commands that you can install. Although they can make things easier for some users, most "easy-to-use" distributions do very well in keeping the user away from the command line.

Why limit yourself from the outset? The mere handful of DOS commands as compared to unix is staggering.

What do Windoze lusers know about DOS commands? Anyone familiar enough to know about and use the command line in Windows is probably willing to learn a thing or two.

-Yep! Glad I read all the replies before posting, you took the words right out of my mouth. Anyone who could be truly adept at DOS should love Linux. I'm just stoked to me a Windoze user who knows what format /q/s or xcopy C:\*.* /h/i/c/k/e/r/y D: does
