Hi there,
Just wanted to make a comment on the removal of the General Linux Questions forum and the apparent incorporation of it's messages into the Technical Support forum.
Overall I knew that something had to be done because all kinds of messages were ending up in the General ... forum. And it was getting quite full. The fact that it had most of the traffic here added to the problem with people probably leaning in the direction of posting there if at all possible to get the most responses. A vicious cycle to be sure. Large forum getting too much of the traffic but getting more traffic because it was so large.
Anyway although I see the value of doing something I now do not have a forum to upload a general linux question to that might give me a half way decent chance of getting some input. The /dev/random forum is so sparsely attended that I probably won't bother to post there. Preferring instead of look for another forum altogether somewhere else.
For example today I wanted to discuss how Open Source Linux programmers make any money. Seeing that in my experience most don't. At least not directly from the Open Source programs they work on. It's not a technical question to I can't post there but the turnout at /dev/random is so low it's unlikely that I will get much of any response.
Do you understand my dilemna?
Just my two cents. Not really looking for comments though they are always welcome. Just thought I would share what's it like for an average user of your fine forum.
