if you open a browser and type the name or IP of your machine, what shows up?
you should get a standard welcome to apache page > if you don't, try opening a terminal window and type "/etc/init.d/httpd restart" > you should get a message saying stopping httpd and then a line saying starting httpd
if you do get the apache welcome page then you need to replace the index.html page in the directory /var/www/html with your own
hope it helps
