Copy to clipboard?? Paste between desktops?

Newbie question: I have RedHat8 installed. In my old NT ways, I used the ALT-PrintScreen and PrintScreen a lot for work purposes. In my RedHat8 installation, is there a way to do this? I have a 2 button mouse enabled not a 3 button mouse so pressing both buttons does nothing after highlighting text. Also, if I copy from one desktop, I cannot paste into an application on another desktop. Is this normal? Is this due to the application or is it the desktops that do not allow for this? Is the clipboard universal to the system? I thought it was... but appears to be per desktop?

Also - If anyone could also recommend a good screen capture tool or utility for Linux that may resolve my issue - it would be appreciated. I need the functionality of capturing from one desktop and pasting into another.

Have a look through these search results for 'emulate3buttons' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=emulate3buttons) as that is likely what you need to add to the InputDevice section of your /etc/X11/XF86Config or -4.

If you're using KDE, you have one built in: look in the graphis Kmenu, under graphics. The utility is called Ksnapshot. Works much better than anything M$windows supplies IMHO.
