hey.... here's the situation.. I currently have windows ME and windows XP installed on a 40 gig drive. (windows XP as a fat32 filesystem)... and the new mandrake-linux just came out yesterday ... i have tried 8.0 before with relative ease of install and dual booting with windows ME went off without a hitch becasue mandrake's installation automatically set up the dual boot. Mt question is will it automatically detect 2 partitons (3 when mandrake is installed) and set up grub automatically to allow me to triple boot?
Thanks...

Hi there. I have a similar situation. I have a triple boot computer. WinME, Win2000 and Mandrake 8.0. Here is what I did, hope it helps you.
On one hard drive I have my windowsME and Windows 2000. I have them on 2 separate partitions Fat32 and NTFS for win2K. I got a second HD and put Mandrake on it. I use Lilo as boot loader, when I log into my computer Lilo boots up and I'm given a few options, Linux, Failsafe, Windows etc. I pick Linux to Start Mandrake, or I pick windows then I get my Windows Boot screen with choice of OS.
Just a reminder if you haven't installed Linux before make sure your hardware is compatible. Go to www.Linuxdocs.com, (http://www.Linuxdocs.com,) or www.Xfree86.com. (http://www.Xfree86.com.) Make sure your modem isn't a win modem because you won't be able to get on the internet with a win modem.
You can run Linux along side of Windows, what you do is boot off of CD, then hit F8, type Lnx4win at the prompt, it will walk you the rest of the way through. Linux can resize your current partitions. If you run Linux along side of windows make sure you back up your data before you install. My personal choice would be to just put linux on a different hard drive, that has worked really well for me.
Good Luck
Denise :D

And yes it will detect the different partitions. :-)
