hi, everyone i am trying to install rh 8.0 on a 37gb hd and on the mb i have a promise card. the issue is this boot message: isolinux: disk error 80, axe4220, drive 9F. does some one understand this and if so what is the message telling me! thanks for the help! oh, all of this happens about 20 seconds into the boot cycle and the message "boot failure" appears.

It looks like a cd booting problem. Try making a boot floppy instead.

Disk error 80 could mean your BIOS may be broken....
What drives/devices are on the Promise controller? If your mobo also has a standard IDE controller, try connecting your devices to one of those IDE channels and see if you can install from there. I don't have the exact answer, but it does seem that isolinux is having a conflict with your BIOS/promise controller combination.

thanks for all of the tips. i do not know how the bios works but i don't that the problem. i tried to create a boot disk and that didn't work and i did the ide thing but hd would not boot up; however when i reconnected the promise card everything was working again.
so i am going to pass on installing red hat 8.0. when i install ELX last week. the whole process was very easy and i ASSUMED that rh 8.0 would be also. i assumed wrong!
the only good thing that happen was that i found justlinux and its community, you folks - an unlimited source of help and good reading and i thought it was me. once again thanks for the tips!
